Health and Survival Activity (HSA) – a complementary cognitive and applicative approach

Abstract

The purpose of this scientific essay are the general premises and assumptions of Health Survival Activity (HSA) that are alternative to the historically established and currently recommended educational systems. The systems in question are based on the separation of activities into health-related activities on one hand and survival skills on the other (understood in the broadest sense in both cases).

The elementary premise of this work is the statement that complex and extreme situations are the best verifiers of education systems on the micro to macro scale. The micro scale is an individual and a small group, while the macro scale is the global civilization, i.e. people en masse. The intermediate levels are: lower average scale (metropolises, etc.), medium scale (countries), higher average scale (subcontinents, continents, the European Union, superpowers). One of the main assumptions of this essay emphasizes the need to redefine the human factor in a dynamically changing natural environment and to an even greater extent in a social environment infused with technology (this factor strongly conditions human behaviour and actions regardless of age, gender, wealth, etc.). Another assumption of the easy is the need to replace the paradigm of educating specialists with alternative complementary education. The one that is in existence now is based on the separation of narrow areas related to the promotion of physical activity, prevention and therapy (physical education, recreation, physiotherapy, etc.) from safety issues (educational systems generally ignore the micro scale). The alternative – HSA – combines as many issues as possible relating to all dimensions of positive health and survival issues dedicated to strengthening personal safety. HSA is well adjusted to people at different stages of their family life and school education and to different social groups, taking into account the real health or life hazards. The dilemma of balancing the necessary changes while maintaining useful standards relativized collectively to public health and broadly understood survival (from micro to macro scale) is emphasized.

The conclusion of this essay is a two-tier question addressed to coordinators (from micro to macro scale) responsible for public health and safety quality: is a breakthrough possible, and if so, in what perspective?
